Chinese New Year is one of the festivals celebrating by Chinese. Most important of all, the Chinese New Year is what the Chinese culture is all about. When the Chinese New Year arrives, all of the family will have big celebration in their houses. Over one billion people in Malaysia celebrate Chinese New Year. Chinese New Year is to celebrate the world coming back to life and each New Year is a start to a fresh clean new year. Year of 2011 is the Year of the Golden Rabbit. Chinese New Year falls on a different date each year.
This important and festive holiday is celebrated for 15 days. Those 15 days can be from the last part of January to the middle of February. Chinese New Year is celebrated depending on the Lunar/solar calendar. The 15 days of Chinese New Year are basically eating praying and respecting others. The first day is the welcoming of the gods of earth and heaven. The Chinese eat meat for a long and joyful life. The second is to pray for all gods. The third and fourth day is for all son-in-laws to respect their father and mother-in-laws. The Chinese stay home and welcome all the gods. There is no visiting friends and family. It they do both families will receive bad luck. So they follow few things for the 15 days.
After the 15 days prayers they celebrate with their friends and family celebrate. Almost every night, food is eaten with family and friends. Some of them celebrate with their mother in-law. Such a thing will maintain their relationship with their family. Red is the color chosen for clothing, as it is a bright, happy color which encourages a bright future. And also Windows and doors will be decorated with red color paper-cuts. Traditionally, the celebration usually lasts three days and each day has its own meaning and tradition.
Other than that they will have dragon dance. Wow it’s really amazing and interesting to watch out. Is a form of traditional dance and performance in Chinese culture. Like the lion dance it is most often seen in festive celebrations. Dragons are believed to bring good luck to people.
So Chinese New Year is the most important of the traditional way of celebrating the New Year.   They also developed their own calendar system called the Lunar Calendar.  Chinese celebrate their own New Year in a unique way.
